Introducing The Magic Pan Project V3!

We lost our user list in the server crash, so you do have to register again. But registration is quick and easy, unlike in the past. One of the many improvements coming to the new site. More features will start rolling out in January, but I wanted to get the site up for the holidays. The forums are functioning, so check them out and say hello! It is pretty sparse right now, but a mass email will be going out to past members sometime in January, so the forum should start filling up fast!

We now have The Magic Pan production manuals, and will be converting them to home use. We also need to get software for the recipe collection, so please consider a donation. The recipes will be making an appearance soon!

The Magic Pan was a chain of Restaurants with locations throughout the United States in the 70's and 80's. It specialized in crepes. My name is Mark, and I'm the owner/moderator of this site.

After googling "Magic Pan", I noticed a LOT of people looking for recipes from The Pan, all over the web. And in much larger numbers than other restaurants. Some recipes were posted, but hard to find. Most requests were left unanswered. Some recipes were not correct or needed work. I also noticed posts from other old Magic Pan employees (NOT that we're old, mind you!). I decided to start this group so that there could be a single resource for the recipes, a gathering place to share experiences, test recipes, and perhaps re-connect with old co-workers.

This is not just a recipe collection! We need you to get involved, ask questions, and share. We want to hear all about those memories about The Magic Pan (or Tragic Pan, as the case may be)! Also, some of the recipes of the Magic Pan changed over the years, so it’s possible there are variations out there. Yes, Stouffers was used, but original recipes existed from the early days. If you know any of this, please share!

Why all this interest in a failed restaurant 20 years ago? I think a lot of it is looking back to a simpler time. Food wise America was changing back then, discovering new cuisines, and getting sophisticated. The Magic Pan was the first "fancy" restaurant for many that had really good food but yet was relatively inexpensive.

Crepes are once again popping up on the food radar. Crepes are getting popular again. Get those crepe pans out people - and don't forget to write!
